Checking out Our faith Community? Welcome

You may be just surfing the net checking out different churches or seriously searching for a new church home. Either way, we are glad that you have decided to stop by and check us out.

I myself am just walking through the door to serve at Monroeville United Methodist Church, (or MUM) as Pastor. I’ve been here before…   I joined this faith community 30 years ago when I was a salesman and had been transferred to the Monroeville area. This community of faith welcomed me into the family and supported me through some very challenging times of illness in my family. Their love and encouragement helped me to hear the heartbeat of God’s love when I needed it most.  Later, when I felt a call to the ordained ministry, they supported me and guided me to a wonderful new life! I’ve been serving as a Pastor in Western PA for over 25 years; in McKeesport, Slippery Rock, Beaver Falls, and Johnstown.  Now God, through our Bishop, has sent me back where my journey began; called to serve the very same community that God used to transform my life!  I know what God can do through these people and what a blessing they are! I look forward to serving with them!

So welcome! We invite you to take some time to check us out.  We hope you will join us so we can welcome you in person! If I can be of any assistance to you, please don’t hesitate to let me know. See you in church or in the neighborhood!

God’s blessings,

Pastor Ed Schoeneck

Service of Light

Service of Light, Wednesday, December 17, 6 p.m.

For many, the Christmas season can be a time of great joy and happiness. But if you have suffered the loss of a loved one, a job, a relationship or even good health, the season can be bittersweet. We invite you to join others in similar circumstances to remember the holiday and its promise in a quieter, less hectic way. Our Service of Light will provide a quiet time of understanding and encouragement. Join with us in sharing and hearing prayers, scripture and music that acknowledges that God’s presence is for those who mourn and struggle - and that God’s Word comes to shine a light in our darkness. Everyone regardless of church background is welcome. Please invite those you know who may be hurting to join us. Our dinner begins at 6 p.m. followed by the service at 7 p.m. There is no cost for the dinner and service, but we do ask you to make reservations by December 14 so that we can adequately prepare for our dinner together. Please call the church office, 412-372-7474 or sign up on the Stephen Ministry bulletin board.
