We offer two
styles of Sunday Worship - blended and traditional. Please read about each
service, then use the chart to help you decide which service would be most
meaningful to you!
9:30
BLENDED SERVICE: This is a
more informal service, designed to have elements that are attractive to those
who enjoy different styles of worship. This worship includes a variety of music
- hymns, psalms, contemporary choruses, praise music and gospel songs -
presented with a variety of instruments including organ, piano, keyboard and
guitar. Both the
Faith We Sing
and the
United
Methodist Hymnal are used,
with opening congregational singing of Praise & Worship music. Additional music
is provided by soloists, instrumentalists and ensembles, including the
Children’s Choir and Youth Music Team. Communion will be offered monthly by
intinction (dipping bread in the common cup). The service provides an
opportunity for the congregation to greet one another during worship. This
eclectic service engages people in a relationship with God through the arts,
which may include drama, storytelling, creative movements and dance, videos and
congregational involvement. During this service, Sunday School for all ages is
available, as is Nursery care.
11:00
TRADITIONAL SERVICE: This is
a more formal
service, with elements of worship rich in church history. The music includes the
great hymns of the church from the
United
Methodist Hymnal led by the
organ, with occasional choruses from the
Faith We Sing.
The Chancel (Adult) Choir and MUM Rings provide inspirational anthems to enhance
the worship, along with the Children’s Choir, Youth Music Team and others. The
traditional service opens with an organ prelude and includes components of
traditional worship such as reciting creeds, singing responses and responsive
readings. Communion will be offered the first Sunday of each month by kneeling
at the communion rail. There is a Children’s Message, after which children
preschool - 2nd grade may go to Children’s Church. Nursery care is available.
