Welcome to the
Nursery!

Some people
brought their little children to Jesus so he could touch them, but his
followers told them to stop.
When Jesus saw this, he was upset and said to them, “Let the little
children come to me. Don’t stop them, because the kingdom of God belongs
to people who are like these children.
I tell you the truth, you must accept the kingdom of God as if you were
a little child, or you will never enter it.”
Then Jesus took the children in his arms, put his hands on them, and
blessed them.

Our mission is to provide a
safe, loving, and learning environment for your child so that you may have
peace of mind while you worship and attend Sunday School. We have put
certain policies in place to make your child's stay safe and happy. If you
have any suggestions, please inform Peggy Burkett, Director of Christian
Education, 412-372-7474. We welcome your input.
We provide nursery care for all
young children, infants through age 2, during all our Sunday morning worship
services and other special worship services and programs. Heather Wilmotte and Emily Wallace are our nursery attendants on staff. Our
attendants are screened with criminal background checks and child abuse
clearances in compliance with MUM's Safe Sanctuary program.
Children must be signed in
and signed out of the nursery. An electronic paging system summons parents
when necessary. We use sanitary procedures for diaper changes and toys are
washed and sanitized at the end of the day. Monroeville UMC recently
invested in new nursery equipment, supplies and toys to provide a healthy
and nurturing environment for infants.
Adults, other than staff,
parents or guardians of a child in the nursery, are not permitted in the
nursery while the nursery is in use. A Nursery childcare team meets
throughout the year to discuss nursery policies and to determine how to
improve the nursery facilities and supplies. The nursery/childcare team is
chaired by Carley Arelt.

We are
following new guidelines to improve the safety of our nursery and to
minimize the chances of sharing germs!
-
Only
children from 6 weeks of age up until their 3rd birthday should be in
the nursery.
-
Even
when small children aren’t in the nursery, we ask that older kids not be
permitted to play in the nursery.
-
Please remind your older children not to wander around the nursery when
you are there to pick up your younger children so that infants and
toddlers don’t get knocked over.
-
All parents leaving their children in the nursery need to sign them in
at each visit and should take a pager with them.
We hope
to see new friends in the nursery soon!
Childcare
Available for Older Children
The
Childcare Team has made arrangements to offer childcare for children ages
3-12 for church sponsored activities. Childcare is being offered so that
parents are able to attend classes or meetings at the church. If you are
the chairperson of a ministry team or teaching a class, please check with
the persons in your class or ministry team to see if childcare is
requested. Please contact Carley Arelt, chairperson of the
nursery/childcare team, to make arrangements for childcare. You must contact
Carley two weeks prior to the event and request the specific time and date in
order for her to make childcare arrangements. All childcare workers and
substitutes have safe sanctuary clearances. Childcare is offered in room 12
downstairs.
