Holy Hands Quilters

IMG 1100 - Copy

Holy Hands Quilters meets the 1st Thursday morning of each month. If this time works for you, please feel invited to join us at 9:30 a.m. on the first Thursday. Even if you don't sew we will have something for you to do! If you have a portable sewing machine, mats, rulers, scissors, etc., please bring them with you. We have been blessed to distribute 14 quilts since September and are now in need of making more quilts. With your help we will be able to accomplish this Holy Hands work and let people going through tough times feel our warmth through a special quilt.

LIttle Free Library

In 2009 the First Little Free Library was built in Hudson, Wisconsin and placed in the front yard of Todd Bol. On it was a sign that read “FREE BOOKS.”

The original models were built with recycled materials. Each was unique but all shared the theme of exchanging good books and bringing people together for something positive.

The Mission is:

*To promote literacy and the love of reading by building free book exchanges worldwide.

*To build a sense of community as we share skills, creativity and wisdom across

The Key Strategies are: The promotion of reading for children, literacy for adults, and libraries around the world.

The MUM Little Free Library has been registered on the World Map of Little Free Libraries.

The concept of a Little Free Library was first presented to the Deborah Circle. When the Lit Lovin’ Ladies Book Club was started, they decided that they would like to sponsor a Little Free Library and be its stewards. Two of the members of the book club, Tammi Bentley and Lori Hughes, volunteered to build the library and they have done a beautiful job.

Mum’s Little Free Library has been installed outside of the parking lot door (our back door) on the left hand side when you are facing the building. There, it will have very good handicapped access and good lighting.

The books are available to anyone in our “community” who likes to read. There is no charge for the books. You are asked to leave a book or return a book when you take one.

You can find out more about Little Free Libraries by going to:

Magazine Collection

MUM is accepting magazines no older than 6 months old for donations to Forbes Regional Hospital. You may place your used magazines in the basket near the back door. The magazines are placed in the waiting areas throughout the hospital for patients and visitors. If you have magazines dated prior to 6 months ago, please deposit them in the recycle bins in the back parking lot. Thank you

Ministry at Golden Living...

We offer a worship service for the residents at the Monroeville Rehab in Monroeville on the 3rd Sunday of every other month at 2:30 p.m., If you would like to share in this ministry in any way, please contact Pastor Ed, at 412-372-7474.

Finance Ministries

Finance Ministries would like to remind you to stop by the Giant Eagle table in the narthex each week between services and pick up Giant Eagle card, restaurant cards and retail store cards. The church will receive 5% of the total card value that you purchase. This is a great way to make an extra contribution to MUM’s ministries without paying anything extra! If each of us bought these cards to use for all of our shopping and dining, we would have ample money to increase the ministries that we offer at MUM.  All it takes is a 2-minute stop at the table between services or a quick stop to the church during office hours (8:30 am-4 pm) during the week to pick up a card. Please call the church ahead of time during the week to make sure someone can have your cards ready for your pick-up, then you’ll be on your way! If you want to be extra quick with card purchases, please have your check made out to MUM Church and ready to go.

Handicap AccessibleWe  welcome persons with disabilities. Our parking lot has several reserved spaces  and the building is universally accessible through automated doors. Our  sanctuary and most other rooms are wheelchair accessible; we have available,  upon request, amplified hearing devices as well as large print Bibles and  Hymnals.
