The Art and Practice of Prayer
Lenten Study led by Pastor Ed
What is prayer? Does it simply consist of getting something out of God or does it tap into something deeper in us, a longing for intimate connection, as a parent picks up a child to hold them? This curriculum is to start the discussion as to what prayer means and how we regain a practice that is at the core of who we are. We will hear from theologians and thinkers who share their own journeys of prayer. Part of the curriculum will provide suggestions for practices that can either be done alone or communally.
Monday nights 7:00 p.m. March 11 through April 15
Wednesday mornings at 10:00 a.m.March 13 through April 17
Topics will include: Prayer as Emptying and Making Room; Prayer as Communion; Prayer as the Gift of Presence; Prayer as Breath for the Journey; Prayer as an Agent of Transformation; Prayer as Listening
Sign up on the Adult Ministries Bulletin Board or call Dona, 412-372-7474, for this spiritual Lenten journey.

Friday, March 15 & Saturday, March 16, 2019 from 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
So often we feel stress and frustration as we do our best to make it through the day. Many have been injured, damaged, even broken by the harshness of life. This retreat is a unique opportunity to ease the pressure and pain so we can discover a place within that offers a deeper sense of self. Nurturing our souls helps us to experience wholeness and harmony in our lives. Through various techniques we will gain greater access to this often unexplored place within and realize greater peace and insight.

Made to Crave with Lauren and Jackie
Most of us welcome the new year for the opportunity to re-evaluate ourselves and take the opportunity for a fresh start! Lauren Boothby and Jackie Sheaffer are ready to lead the Made to Crave, Satisfying your deepest desire with God, not Food by Lysa Terkeurst. They hope to gather like-minded women to journey with them!
Lysa Terkeurst realizes that “craving isn’t a bad thing.” Ms. Terkeurst will point that “the missing link between a woman’s desire to be healthy and the spiritual empowerment necessary to make that happen?” “It is not a how-to manual or the latest, greatest dieting plan” book. Rather it is “a book and Bible study to help you find the ‘want to’ in how to make healthy lifestyle changes.”
Several chapters will cover:
What’s really Going on Here?; Friends don’t let friends eat before thinking; Made for more; I’m not defined by the numbers; Making peace with the realities of my body; The curse of the skinny jeans; Emotional emptiness; Why diets don’t work
Starting time and date has not yet been determine. If will be dtermined by the interst shown, so please let Jackie or Lauren knpw which evening works best for you.
