Summer Church Camps

It may be March, but we are already gearing up for Church Camps this summer. If your kid(s) would like to go camping, you can sign up at the Kids’ Check-In Desk in the narthex or send an email to Justin Boothby with the camp they plan to attend. As a church, we will give a $250 camp scholarship to kids from the church who want to go, after you have sent in your deposit. Please note that this is first-come first-serve based on how much money we have in the Camping Fund.

Local church camps have programs for all ages of children and youth. Opportunities include Adventure Camps, Discovery Camps, Sports Camps, Mommy/Daddy and Me Camps, Creative Arts Camps, Dance Camps, Wilderness Skills Camps, Science Camps and many more! Our United Methodist camps are Camp Allegheny (, Jumonville (, and Wesley Woods ( Check out the websites for the exciting camp opportunities! Or get brochures from Justin.

We have Sunday School classes for ages 3-Senior High. Children under 3 are invited to learn and explore in our nursery.

Sunday School for students ages 3 - 12 grade will be held 9:30-10:30 a.m. Children (with parents' help) should check in at the Sunday School desk in the narthex before they go to worship. Children begin worship with their families at 9:15 in the sanctuary then, following the children’s message, they will be dismissed to go with their teachers to their classrooms. If you have a child who is 3 years old - 2nd grade, you will need to come to his/her room at 10:30 a.m. to pick up the child. The teachers in these classes will not release the children. They must be picked up at their classroom.

On the 1st Sunday of each month, children will worship at 9:15 with their families; there will not be separate Sunday School on those Sundays. Following the service, the congregation will be invited to participate in our "Share the Love" Mission Project.

March Sunday School

The memory verse for March is, “Now is the time! Here comes God’s Kingdom! Change your hearts and lives, and trust this good news!” (Mark 1:15)

Our theme for March is “Observing Lent With Your Family.” During this month, we encourage you to take time teaching your kids about fasting and prayer. Whether it’s food or something like technology that you may need to fast from, help them understand the purpose behind it. Think about the things in your heart and lives that you may need to reevaluate so that you can not only love Jesus in a more passionate way, but love others as well.

Mission Project: We will be collecting paper products for the Garden City Food Pantry. Take time to explain to your kids why donations are important for the community.

Offering: This year we are trying to raise $500 for the Garden City Food Pantry. Last year we raised over $350. We collect an offering each week during Sunday School.

Share the Love Sunday

There is no Sunday School on the first Sunday of each month, “Share the Love Sunday." Students will attend worship, 9:15-10 a.m., and communion instead of separate Sunday School classes on those Sundays and participate with the congregation in a mission project at 10 a.m. following the 9:15 service.

Third and Fourth Graders Received Bibles

On September 23, 2018 our third and fourth graders received Bibles from the congregation. They will use the Bibles in Sunday School as they learn about the Bible itself, how it is set up, the books of the Bible and, of course, the Word of God.

Sunday School Offering

Each Sunday School class collects an offering every week as a way to teach our students the importance of showing our love to our neighbors wherever they may be. The offerings for the first quarter of 2018-2019 will go to the Garden City Food pantry to bless our nearby neighbors.

Safe Sanctuary Clearances

Volunteers working with children and youth need to have Act33 and Act34 clearances updated every five years. There is no charge for these clearances for volunteers. Information on obtaining clearances is in the church hallway, on the shelf by the nursery. Justin, Director of Christian Discipleship, has forms to mail in if you prefer not to do the forms online.

Children’s Library!

Did you know we have a children’s library where you can borrow Christian children’s books and DVDs? We have a new collection of Veggie Tales and Hermie DVDs, as well as, some new children’s books and Bible story books! Thank you to Tina and Allie Klein for their recent work to update our library. “Check out” our children’s library by the Sunday School desk downstairs. .

Handicap AccessibleWe  welcome persons with disabilities. Our parking lot has several reserved spaces  and the building is universally accessible through automated doors. Our  sanctuary and most other rooms are wheelchair accessible; we have available,  upon request, amplified hearing devices as well as large print Bibles and  Hymnals.
